Ubico finalists for prestigious health and safety awards
Ubico are proud to announce that they have been shortlisted in two categories at the Safety and Health Excellence Awards, due to take place in Birmingham in April.
The Safety and Health Excellence Awards, presented annually, recognise achievements and innovations in health and safety. To be shortlisted in two categories highlights Ubico’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment for its employees and ensuring best practices in health and safety standards across all of its operations.
Ubico was shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Data to Lower Incident Rates’ category. This award recognises organisations that have endeavoured to collect data linked to risk and health and safety management arrangements, with an aim to analyse routine data and better understand the likelihood of future events. They will have shown exceptional understanding of leading indicators and be able to demonstrate how they plan to better understand incidents in order to protect their workforce.
Rob Heath, Ubico’s Operations Director said
"The health and safety data we collect helps us adopt a holistic approach to managing health and safety by not only monitoring safety and preventing accidents, but also identifying less obvious hazards, determining if adjustments or additional safety measures are needed, and improving employee morale by maintaining a safe and responsible workplace. As a result of using targeted data to inform our health and safety practices we saw a tangible result in the reduction of incident rates. We are really proud of this achievement, and we will continue to innovate and seek continuous improvement"
Ubico was also shortlisted in the ‘Safer Logistics’ category for their Get Out and Look campaign, a safety initiative focused on safer driving practices. The award recognises the most impressive achievements in a safety campaign or project throughout the industry over the past 12 months, honouring the key individuals and teams involved.
The Get Out and Look campaign was delivered using a range of methods including targeted training, toolbox talks. posters, features in routine staff communication, and short, campaign-specific videos created internally by our communications team, which outlined the purpose of the campaign and the vital part all of our colleagues play in health and safety and incident prevention.
"We are incredibly honoured to be shortlisted in two categories " said Beth Boughton, Managing Director. "Extensive work has been undertaken to capture health and safety data, respond to it and implement preventative measures. The reduction of incident rates as a result of our targeted Get Out and Look campaign is evidence of our commitment to high standards of health and safety, continuous improvement, and highlights the vital role our people play in achieving this".
Winners will be announced at the awards in Birmingham on 9th April 2025.
