International women's day- celebrating diversity and inclusion

Today (March 8th), the world comes together for International Women’s Day to celebrate women’s achievements and reinforce a commitment to women’s equality. Traditionally our industry has been male dominated but we are starting to see more women in the industry and we are very proud of the women who work for us.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day in 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ and having a diverse workforce and delivering a wealth of different experiences is key in the delivery of our services.

The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society, to have an inclusive culture contributing to a happy, productive working environment and for each person to feel respected and able to give their best.

At Ubico, we consider that equality and inclusion mean breaking down barriers, eliminating discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities and access for all groups both in employment, and to goods and services. We consider diversity to mean celebrating difference and valuing everyone. Each person is an individual with visible and non-visible differences and by respecting this everyone can feel valued for their contributions, which is beneficial not only for the individual but for the company as a whole.

We promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the following ways:

  • By encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • By creating a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful
  • discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all.
  • We train our managers and all other employees about their rights and responsibilities under the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
  • We take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination
  • We ensure opportunities for training, development and progression are available to all staff, who will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential.
  • We review employment practices and procedures when necessary to ensure fairness and update them and the policy to take account of changes in the law.
  • We review recruitment practices and procedures regularly to ensure that processes are in
  • place to reduce the risk of unconscious bias.
  • If an employee is disabled or becomes disabled, Ubico will consider what reasonable adjustments or support may be appropriate.
